Welcome from the Program Director
We welcome your interest in the Developmental Psychology Program at UAB. They conduct research that federal agencies are funding with an excess of $10 million dollars
per year. This creates an exciting environment for graduate training.
The facilities are excellent in the Department of Psychology and at the several research centers that play important roles in our program. Our students obtain interdisciplinary training through collaboration with these centers and other departments at UAB.
This is a life span developmental psychology program, meaning you learn about human behavior throughout life. However, you focus on an area of your interest
(e.g. childhood, adolescence, aging that matches with the interest of a faculty mentor in developing your expertise and research program. In most respects, our program is individualized to meet your goals.
We have provided financial support to all our students who
have desired such, in the form of fellowships and
assistantships. You are expected to be a full-time student
here. We train students to become career scientists. Our
graduates have taken positions as professors in universities
and colleges, and scientific program directors in public and
private agencies.
We invite you to learn more about our program by checking the links to the right. Please
contact me if you have questions about the program. You can also directly contact faculty members whose research intrigues you. We all look forward to hearing from you.
