RESEARCH PROGRAM:

Dr. Hodgens currently directs interdisciplinary clinics focusing on the evaluation and treatment of childhood behavior disorders and learning disabilities through the Sparks Clinics at UAB’s Civitan International Research Center (http://www.circ.uab.edu.) He established The ADHD Clinic in 1989 at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama and continues this work through the Sparks’ Behavioral Assessment Clinic (http://www.circ.uab.edu/sparks/ADHD/index.html).

Dr. Hodgens also directs UAB’s Summer Treatment Program for children with ADHD (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8642147/), which has been identified as one of the most effective non-medical methods of treatment for children with ADHD. One of his primary activities is the training of child and pediatric psychologists through UAB’s Sparks Civitan Clinics (http://www.circ.uab.edu/cpintern.htm#program).

Dr. Hodgens was recently named the recipient of the McNulty Civitan Scientist Award for 2005.
