Links-Up Mentoring Links-Up Mentoring is an early intervention program designed for children in grades K - 8 who attend local schools. Identified by teachers and counselors, the children in this program have shown early warning signs of "at-risk" behavior. Volunteers are "linked up" with a small group of students and meet with the group for approximately 1 hour per week during school hours. Links-Up volunteers are often the only non-threatening authority figures in the lives of these children. Volunteers provide warmth, empathy, encouragement, and consistency - important elements necessary for positive growth and achievement. Contact supervisor: Wendy Short, Links-Up Mentoring Coordinator Contact phone: 205-324-2434 Contact email: wshort@campfire-al.org |
