Youth Villages

The Youth Villages Internship Program offers you unique, hands-on experience working with emotionally and behaviorally troubled youth in a residential, group home, or home-based counseling setting in Memphis, TN or one of our many other locations.  A week-long orientation prepares you to work closely with our staff and learn to carry out many of the same duties, including group therapy, one-on-one processing, teaching life skills, organizing recreational therapy activities and more.

Youth Villages offers internships year round.  Fall and spring internships are 25 weeks and for credit only.  As summer internships are paid, students will not be allowed to receive credit for them.  Schedules are flexible.

Links-Up Mentoring

Links-Up Mentoring is an early intervention program designed for children in grades K - 8 who attend local schools.  Identified by teachers and counselors, the children in this program have shown early warning signs of "at-risk" behavior.

Volunteers are "linked up" with a small group of students and meet with the group for approximately 1 hour per week during school hours.  Links-Up volunteers are often the only non-threatening authority figures in the lives of these children.  Volunteers provide warmth, empathy, encouragement, and consistency - important elements necessary for positive growth and achievement.
